Discount rules#

Discount rules allow you to automatically reward a customer when they select exactly the combination of options you have specified — for example, a popular package. A fixed amount or percentage is then automatically deducted from the total price, with a custom name appearing on the quote.

Creating a discount rule#

1. Go to Discounts
2. Select the form
3. Click on New discount rule

You will now be taken to the actual form, embedded within the screen (configuration mode). You cannot request a proper quotation from this screen.

Putting the combination together#

1. Work through the form as a customer would
2. Make exactly the choices that together form the discount offer

This combination is recorded as the exact configuration to which the discount applies.

Filling in the discount rule#

1. Give the rule a name
2. Select the type: percentage or fixed amount
3. Enter the value
4. Optionally, enter a rule description for the quotation — you can use placeholders here such as name, amount, percentage, price before, price after, composition, number of options and form
5. Tick the box if this discount can be combined with other discounts
6. Tick the box to indicate whether you want to actively promote this configuration to visitors, using your own promotional text
7. Tick ‘Show at every step’ if the offer should always be visible, rather than just on the overview and just before the customer completes the selection
8. Click Save

What the visitor sees#

If a visitor comes close to (or exactly matches) the predefined combination, a bar appears showing the name of the promotion, any promotional text and the amount saved, with a button to apply the offer. Once applied, the bar changes to a confirmation message, with a “Back to my selection” button to restore the customer’s own selection.

Frequently asked questions#

What happens if I remove all discount rules?
Prices remain exactly as they always were without discount rules — discount rules are a separate layer on top of your standard pricing rules.

Can a visitor set any discount themselves?
No, a discount only applies if the visitor selects exactly the specified combination.
